About

Hi.  I'm Jaime.

Like you, I have worn many hats in the course of my life: daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend … I have been a student, a professional, and a domestic engineer- that’s fancy talk for a stay-at-home parent.  But I misplaced the most important hat of all.  I forgot where I put me.  I am not alone.  Many people put themselves on the back burner for a myriad of reasons, whether to be a caretaker, a people pleaser, or some people simply do not have the time or energy to put themselves first. It isn’t wrong per se, but it definitely isn’t right.

I have known this for a while, but did nothing. You can bring a horse to water, but you can’t force it to drink.  2020 brought me to my knees emotionally, mentally, and physically, and I am ready to take a sip.  I have lost my voice and my place in my own life. In many ways, this blog is for me to just have a place to escape to, to find myself. I’m not lost per se, I am just not front and center. And that’s fine sometimes. But every so often, I want to be seen. I am finally ready for my close-up. Thus, Talking With My Hands was born.

I am a naturally friendly, sharing personality, and yes, I am expressive and have been known to use my hands to get my point across.  I love meeting new people, going to new places, and trying new things.  I am not an artist, fashion designer, or chef, but I love learning. I am a student of life: I love to travel; I love pretty things; I love my home; I love my family; I love a good story.  And most of all, I love sharing my life with my friends- the good, the bad and the ugly.  So come along with me on this next chapter as I venture onwards and upwards. Have a seat, lift a glass, stay while … and don’t forget to laugh.

XOXOXOXO
